In April, Xiaomi announced the cancellation of the Android 9.0 Pie update for budget smartphones Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, which were released last summer. But now, it seems, the company has changed its mind.
Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A still get an upgrade to Android 9.0 Pie. And on the official MIUI forum, a set of beta testers for the new firmware has already been announced.
Of course, before the release of a stable OS version is still far: during testing, the manufacturer will have to find errors and fix them. But all the same, I am glad that the company has not curtailed the work on the update.
Recall that in late April, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A received a new version of the MIUI firmware based on Android 8.1 Oreo.
Xiaomi has released a global stable version of MIUI 10 for two budget smartphones of the past.
The update came out for Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Redmi 4. So far, only some of the devices have begun to receive firmware. But all the others can no longer wait for OTA and install the update manually.
Unfortunately, no global innovations should be expected. The update is still based on Android OS 6.0 Marshmallow. The developers of the company only improved the operation of the devices, and also added a new system interface.
Xiaomi company continues to release a stable version of MIUI 10 for its devices. This time the update received four smartphones.
What is known
The list includes the following devices: Xiaomi Mi Max 3, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 5 (Chinese version of the smartphone) and Redmi Note 5A. This is not yet “Global”, but China Stable ROM. It has only English and Chinese languages and no Google services. But based on this firmware, third-party developers are already preparing their builds for users outside of China.
In the new update, there are all the innovations of the MIUI 10 shell. For example, navigation gestures, a new notification curtain interface and a menu of recently launched applications. Also, the system added support for artificial intelligence and many other useful features.
